Intellectual Property
As an innovator of new, next-generation sensor platform technology, intellectual property is a fundamental part of our work at Aligned Bio. Since our earliest days originating out of Lund University, Aligned Bio has been granted 80 patents for technology and processes in our mission to deliver previously unattainable sensitivity at mass market viable costs.
The fabrication of our platforms utilizes three key intellectual property areas owned by Aligned Bio:
- low cost mass production of nanowire devices via Aerotaxytm;
- nanowire alignment, ordering and spacing on various types of platforms; and
- the use of nanowires as molecular sensors
Aerotaxy
Aerotaxy is our unique, proprietary technology for fabricating nanowires and nanowire devices.
Aerotaxy dramatically reduces the amount of gallium arsenide and other expensive materials previously needed to create photonic nanowires. Providing exceptional throughput and high yield, Aerotaxy is what enables Aligned Bio-enabled sensors to be produced and adopted at low cost.

Nanowire Alignment
Patents cover two key aspects; nanowire alignment and optimization. Our protected methods include high-level alignment and ordering of nanowires which ensure they become well defined structures.
