We are looking for our future Principal Scientist
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to Dr. Søren Echwald, Chief Scientific Officer, the Principal Scientist will ultimately be working towards being able to demonstrate high accuracy sequencing on an Illumina platform, extending standard high accuracy read-lengths on these instruments from 200-300, up to 2000 bases, thus demonstrating simple, cost-effective single molecule sequencing and resolution of the “phasing problem”, implicit in most sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technologies. The Principal Scientist will have broad degrees of freedom to achieve this, and is expected to bring new and innovative ideas to the table. In addition, the Principal Scientist will be working to assist in completing and compiling a comprehensive and key, proof of data package, that demonstrates long read sequencing on SBS platforms.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with sequencing by synthesis (SBS) chemistries – especially as implemented by Illumina.
- Experience and familiarity with Illumina and similar short-read sequencing platforms and the sequencing-by-synthesis ecosystem.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy and single molecule detection technologies.
- Experience in handling and characterizing nucleic acid solutions at picomolar concentrations.
- Experience with nucleic acid immobilization and conjugation chemistries.
- Familiarity with algorithms and software for sequencing data collection and analysis.
- Understanding of a startup environment and ability to work outside of the job description.
- Flexibility to wear ‘different-hats’, with a proactive and positive approach.
- Desire and ability to be hands on, in the lab and conducting experiments.
- Willingness to understand new ideas and technology.
- Team-player approach and desire to work independently, without strict guidelines or supervision.
- Enjoys working in an inter-national, multi-cultural, tight-knit and ambitious company.
